G7 countries to mull ban on transportation of Russian oil by sea
MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) – The G7 countries will consider a ban on transportation of oil from Russia by sea if the price is not agreed with "the international partners," the group said in a statement following a summit on Tuesday.
There is no G7 final agreement on the price caps for Russian oil due to the novelty and complexity of the approach, the U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan earlier said.
G7 will consider a range of approaches, including a comprehensive prohibition of all services allowing Russia to transport oil products by sea unless oil is purchased at or below the price agreed with the international partners, the group said.
Earlier U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the U.S. was interested in Russian oil to be imported to the world markets, but at forcefully reduced prices.
